Just a heads up that there will be no “official” Technology Bytes Geek Gathering for August. Jay Lee and Barrett Canon are off to Vegas to attend the granddaddy of all geek gatherings, The Defcon 19 Hacking Conference in Las Vegas. Jay and Barrett will be posting updates to their Twitter accounts over the weekend if you want to keep up on all the shenanigans. The other hosts will be taking the night off.

Happy birthday to us! Can you believe it? 16 years of Technology Bytes. To put that in perspective, we started out when Windows 95 was released, Pentium processors were becoming the standard and sounding the death knell for their x86 predecessors and a new Internet age of computing was just getting fired up as 250,000 people built the first home pages on the web.

Seems so long ago, doesn’t it? Well, here we are. Still going strong after all these years.

We’re not going crazy for this birthday, but we do want to acknowledge it. We’ll be meeting up for our monthly gathering/meet-up at The Coffee Groundz, located 2503 Bagby, in Houston, TX.

We hope you can stop by for a little socializing as we celebrate another milestone. We certainly could not have done it without our listeners and fans over these last 16 years.
